Trump says he has received a letter from Zelenskyy on Ukraine's readiness for talks

During his speech to Congress, US President Donald Trump said he had received a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to Donald Trump, the letter states that Ukraine «is ready to sit down at the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring about a sustainable peace», as well as to sign an agreement on minerals.
This was stated during the broadcast of Donald Trump's speech, CNN reports.
Touching on the war in Ukraine, Donald Trump said that «two thousand people are killed every week», and stressed that he wants «to stop».
«Do you want this to go on for another 5 years?» he asked.
Donald Trump also noted that he had received an important letter «from Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to him, the document states:
«My team and I are ready to work under the strong leadership of President Trump to achieve a lasting peace. We truly appreciate how much America has done to help Ukraine preserve its sovereignty and independence. As for the minerals and security agreement, Ukraine is ready to sign it at any time convenient for you», the statement said.
In conclusion, Donald Trump thanked for the letter and added that «at the same time, we had serious discussions with Russia and received strong signals that they are ready for peace».
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is ready to sign a minerals agreement between Ukraine and the US at any time and in any convenient format.
It should also be recalled that Donald Trump ordered the suspension of all military assistance to Ukraine, increasing pressure on President Zelenskyy.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also emphasised his readiness to meet with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, if he receives an invitation to «a constructive dialogue».
At the same time, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmytro Peskov said that the foreign policy approaches of the Donald Trump administration «largely» correspond to the Kremlin's position.» At the same time, he acknowledged that relations between the US and Russia still have a long way to go «to improve, but that if there is political will, it can be «overcome quite quickly».
