A charging station for trolleybuses with autonomous travel of up to 20 kilometers will be built in the Ship district of Mykolaiv. The works are estimated at 7.2 million hryvnias.

This is evidenced by the data of the public procurement system ProZorro, they write NikVesti.

The customer of the works is the utility company Mykolaivelectrotrans of the city council. The contractor must complete all work by May 31, 2025.

Currently, there is a wasteland at the place where a temporary parking and charging station for trolleybuses is planned to be built, Yuriy Smetana, director of Mykolaivelectrotrans, told NikVesti. They plan to do preparatory work there, install small forms, a fence, and improve the territory.

«This is only one puzzle of the whole picture — the complex of works carried out by our company. Now we are talking about PTS trolleybuses with autonomous travel of 20 kilometers, which will move to Korabelnyi district. To do this, we need to make a place for standing, charging, and resting drivers with a control room. That is, our employee, the dispatcher, will always be there.

Now there is a wasteland, so we need to bring it to order. This tender provides for the complete landscaping of the site, removal of trees, installation of a trough, asphalting, taking into account the fact that the trolleybus is large and heavy — 18 tons, fencing of this site, installation of racks on which there will be sockets for charging trolleybuses, as well as the charitable territory,» he explained Yurii Smetana.

Next, the company is waiting for the delivery of the control room, he explained. Its cost was 672 thousand hryvnias, according to data from the public procurement system ProZorro.

«The second puzzle is that at the end of September, we already held a tender, paid 50% and are waiting for the delivery of the control room itself. It will be a modular house, where there will be a rest room for drivers, a room for the dispatcher himself, who will work around the clock, a toilet, as well as a room for meals. Well, the main thing is the work with Mykolaivoblenergo to bring power there so that trolleybuses can be charged,» Yurii Smetana explained.

The first trolleybuses with autonomous travel of up to 20 kilometers as part of the implementation of the project with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development arrived in Mykolaiv in April 2024. And the mayor announced plans to purchase this new transport in December 2023.

The company also converted a trolleybus from a vehicle damaged by shelling. Instead of the usual restoration, the company chose modernization, making the vehicle autonomous. The updated trolleybus is capable of traveling up to 20 kilometers and is equipped with an air conditioning system.

In total, during the hostilities, the losses of Mykolaivelectrotrans amounted to 141 million hryvnias, of which 46 million were technical.
