The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, said that due to mobilization measures, the city council cannot find employees for vacant positions.

The mayor announced this during a briefing on May 21, writes NikVesti.

«We have a certain number of reserved employees. These are critical infrastructure workers, part of transport workers. But the situation is not bright. Everyone understands that the war continues, the mobilization reserve must be increased. The number of people looking for an official job in the city council is definitely not increasing. Because the city council works officially, pays salaries officially, pays taxes officially, and the registration of these employees through the TRC is also carried out officially. That is, if you work in the city council, you must go through the TRC,» said Oleksandr Sienkovych.

The mayor also reported that, in general, the situation with the mobilization has not yet significantly affected the life of Mykolaiv. However, he reminded, currently the men of draft age are still updating their credentials — this process will continue for 60 days.

«This has not yet affected Nikolaev's life. But, you understand, I read that it takes another 60 days for everything to turn around and turn around. Today I don't feel that anything has changed there. Military commissions continue to work and recruit people. Data is currently being updated. I personally do not observe any sharp drop or increase in the number of mobilized people,» Oleksandr Sienkevych said.

What about the mobilization in Mykolaiv Oblast?

On May 17, 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law increasing liability for violations of military registration and mobilization.

For violating the law on defense and mobilization in peacetime, a fine of 5,100 to 8,500 hryvnias is provided for citizens, and from 17,000 to 25,500 hryvnias for officials and legal entities. The fine for repeated offenses during the year is from 8,500 to 11,900 hryvnias for citizens, from 25,500 to 34,000 hryvnias for officials and legal entities.

A fine from 17,000 to 25,500 hryvnias for citizens, from 34,000 to 59,500 hryvnias for officials and legal entities is provided for offenses during a special period.

As of Monday, May 20, conscripts will have the opportunity to update their military registration data at the units of the administrative services department in Mykolaiv.

In total, during the full-scale war , 33,000 residents of the Mykolaiv Oblast were mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces.

Vitalii Kim, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, believes that draft dodgers do not have the right to a full life and entertainment, at a time when the soldiers of the Armed Forces are fighting to defend Ukraine. He believes that money should not be the main motivation for protecting the state. In his opinion, the motivation for serving in the army should be sincere patriotism, because only in this case it is possible to claim unconditional love for the homeland.

In response to this, Oksana Kaliuzhna, a member of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, reacted negatively to the regional leadership's statement regarding mobilization, comparing the issuing of summonses to evasioners to catching dogs.
