The Russian army has stepped up shelling of the Vovchansk community of Kharkiv region and is trying to break through the front line.
Nazar Voloshyn, the spokesman for the Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group of Troops, stated this on the air of the telethon.
According to him, Russian troops intensified their shelling of the Vovchansk community. Within a few days, 22 anti-aircraft missiles were dropped in the direction of Vovchansk.
«Also, the Russian army is constantly shelling Lypetsk and Vovchansk communities with artillery. Kozacha Lopat village and Kupiansk district,» he noted.
It is noted that the situation remains difficult in the area of responsibility of the «Khortytsia» military intelligence service, but the units of the defense forces are monitoring the situation.
«Enemy breakthroughs to advance deep into our territory are not allowed. Fierce defensive battles are being fought and attempts by the Russian occupiers to break through our defenses are being stopped,» Nazar Voloshyn added.
According to the spokesman, the Russians are trying to break through the front line and concentrate the main efforts on several directions. They attack along the entire front line.
On May 13, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that the Defense Forces had pushed the Russians back from Vovchansk. As of May 14, measures to comb urban buildings in Vovchansk continue.
It will be recalled that the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense Kyrylo Budanov predicts that the offensive of the Russian army in the Kharkiv region will continue for several more days, after which a new attack will begin in the direction of the Sumy region.
Russian offensive on Kharkiv Oblast
Russian troops intensified shelling in the northern direction of the Kharkiv region. First of all, the enemy attacks the city of Vovchansk.

Subsequently, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, confirmed that the Russian army had launched a counteroffensive in the Kharkiv direction. He noted that the military command knew about the enemy's plans for a new offensive and calculated the forces to respond to the attack.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also reported on the strengthening of positions in the Kharkiv region, where defensive operations continue.
On May 13, the head of the Kharkiv regional state administration, Oleh Syniehubov, noted that the Russian army shelled more than 30 settlements in the Kharkiv region. Seven people were injured.
The head of the Vovchansk city military administration, Tamaz Gambarashvili, assures that there were fortifications around the city on the border with Russia, but it was not easy to erect them due to Russian shelling.
The Russian army captured civilians of the border community of Vovchansk during offensive operations in the Kharkiv region. Local residents were placed in the basement on May 11. Some of them managed to escape on May 13 and reach the volunteers.
