The focus of the international community's attention should not be on the possible collapse of the Russian Federation, but on the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine and compensation for the damage caused.

This position was expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba during a briefing in Mykolaiv, writes NikVesti.

When asked by a journalist whether the possible disintegration of Russia causes fear among Western partners, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed the opinion that such fears are unfounded. He emphasized that the future of Russia should be determined by its people.

«Once upon a time, the West was very afraid that the Soviet Union would disintegrate. However, they made every effort to prevent this from happening. Therefore, when the current Putin`s propaganda tells everyone about how the evil West destroyed the Soviet Union, it is simply a lie. On the contrary, the West tried to keep the Soviet Union together. However, it fell apart, the planet Earth did not stop spinning,» said Dmytro Kuleba.

Dmytro Kuleba emphasized that Ukraine's position is clear: the focus is not on what will happen to Russia, but on how to force it to withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine and compensate for the damage caused.

«We focus our partners not on what will happen with Russia, but on what efforts are still needed to expel Russia from the territory of Ukraine and make it pay for the aggression and the damage caused,» the minister said.

At the same time, Dmytro Kuleba distinguished two different processes — the support of Ukraine and the possible disintegration of Russia, stressing that these are not related phenomena.

«Therefore, as I have already said, we are talking about what efforts are still needed to expel Russia from the territory of Ukraine. And what will happen next is a different historical process, but no apocalypse will happen. The world is arranged in such a way that some countries continue their existence, while others cease to exist. Ukraine continues its existence,» he said.

We will also remind you that the office of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Ukraine was opened in Mykolaiv on January 26. On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country, Lars Lekke Rasmussen, arrived in the city together with Dmytro Kuleba.

The beginning of Denmark's cooperation with Mykolaiv

In March 2022, the president of Ukraine, speaking in front of the Danish parliament, called on the country to take «leadership» over Mykolaiv after the end of the full-scale war unleashed by Russia.

At the end of August last year, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, and the Minister of International Development of Denmark, Flemming Moller Mortensen, signed a memorandum of cooperation. The memorandum envisages joint work on the formation of reconstruction projects and the involvement of investors from various countries in the restoration of Mykolaiv.

In January 2023, a meeting of representatives of Denmark and Ukraine took place in Mykolaiv regarding the planning of further restoration of the city.

On July 3, the Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark announced a new aid package for the Mykolaiv region.

In September, after a meeting with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the opening of the office of the Danish Embassy in Ukraine in Mykolaiv.

At the beginning of November, Denmark announced a new large-scale aid package for Ukraine for 40.2 million euros. The main emphasis in the aid package is on Mykolaiv and the Mykolaiv region.
