The Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) will provide Mykolaiv with €7.2 million in grant support for solar power plants.

The relevant draft decision has been published on the website of the Mykolaiv City Council, according to NikVesti.

In total, it is planned to install three solar power plants in the city. This issue is still to be considered by two standing committees: on housing and communal services and on budget, and the deputies must approve it at the city council session.

As a reminder, six solar power plants were installed on the roofs of medical facilities in Mykolaiv over two years with donor funds.

At the same time, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych announced plans to create an energy island «in the city», which will ensure stable heat supply during large-scale power outages.

In early 2025, Denmark allocated more than €26 million in aid to Mykolaiv region. Part of these funds will be allocated to the energy sector: various equipment and solar panels to increase energy resilience.

It is also known that solar stations will be installed at the facilities of «Mykolaivvodokanal». The works will be financed by partners from Denmark.
