COVID-19 in the Mykolaiv region: the number of deaths has increased to 7 people

Almost three thousand residents of the Mykolaiv region are currently suffering from the COVID-19 coronavirus infection. 7 deaths have already been recorded in the region.

Such numbers were announced by the deputy head of the regional health care department, Oleh Babin, during a briefing on Tuesday, September 10, NikVesti writes.

According to the administration, the first cases of COVID-19 in the Mykolaiv region were confirmed on August 12. As of September 10, the total number of infected people is 2,843.

«Last day, 150 people were diagnosed in primary healthcare institutions, another 130 in specialized institutions. As of this morning, 72 people are in inpatient treatment, 27 have been discharged. And as of today, 7 people have died from COVID-19,» Oleh Babin said.

Hospitals of the Mykolaiv region are fully equipped with vaccines, mainly Pfizer, the official said.

«All primary schools have this vaccine. If necessary, you can contact health care institutions. People who died had accompanying severe pathological diseases. The disease of COVID-19 led to a fatal end. I urge people over 60 to get vaccinated to prevent the disease,» he added.

Has COVID-19 returned to Ukraine again?

Since the beginning of August, Ukraine, like most countries of the world, has faced a sharp increase in the incidence of COVID-19. A new wave was expected in autumn, but it started earlier.

On August 13, the Ministry of Health (MoH) approved updated recommendations for vaccination against the coronavirus.

On August 19, during a briefing on the preparation of the Mykolaiv region for possible epidemiological outbreaks, the president of the Ukrainian Association of Infectious Diseases, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Professor Olha Holubovska announced the possibility of a new pandemic, which could be even more dangerous than the previous ones.

969 cases of coronavirus disease were registered in Mykolaiv Oblast in three weeks, from August 13 to September 2, 107 people were hospitalized, among them 1 fatal case.

As of September 6, the number of patients in Mykolaiv is 1,140 cases, two elderly women have died. An increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 was also recorded in Pervomaisk. 48 people fell ill during the week.
