Later, the city council clarified that the number of victims had increased to 74 people, including 13 children.
According to the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artiukh, Russian troops struck the central part of the city, including a school. The children were in a shelter at the time of the attack.

Several multi-storey buildings, a school, and children in a protective structure were damaged, and they are being evacuated, all alive and well. Rescue services are working to eliminate the consequences and put out the fires. We are making rounds of high-rise buildings to help the affected people», he said.
