Currently, more than 50,000 people are missing in Ukraine. Before Russia's full-scale invasion, this number was four times smaller — about 12,000.
Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine Andrii Nebitov reported this.
«With the start of the Russian invasion, the number of disappearances has quadrupled. Today, there are 50,150 missing persons,» stated Andrii Nebitov.
He noted that due to the unpredictable situation on the front, massive Russian attacks on cities, population migration, and temporary occupation of territories, information gathering and data verification have become more challenging.
«The workload for criminal investigations has increased, but the operatives are working at maximum capacity and continue to fight for every human life,» remarked Andrii Nebitov.
It is worth reminding that in Mykolaiv, there is a regional headquarters for missing persons operating under special conditions. Families searching for missing individuals in the war can seek free legal and psychological assistance.
They explained there the rules that families should follow when searching for a missing person and that information about the missing person should not be shared on social media under any circumstances.
