Also, as a result of the shelling, a low-pressure gas pipeline and a power transmission line were damaged, which have already been restored. There are no casualties.

What is happening in Ochakiv?

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the occupiers have been shelling Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities almost every day from the territory of the temporarily occupied Kinburn spit. Earlier, the head of the RMA, Vitalii Kim, said that the shelling of Ochakiv by the Russian army has no military purpose, the occupiers are shooting to scare the locals.

At the same time, during the entire time of the full-scale war, the elected mayor of Ochakiv, Serhii Bychkov, never publicly addressed the community or on its behalf. He also did not voice any problem, did not report on the results of the work. All communication between the Ochakiv city government and the population is conducted by his deputy, Oleksii Vaskov, instead of the mayor. Vitalii Kim assumes that the mayor of Ochakiv does not address the community and does not report on the results of his work because he is a «non-public person».

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, approximately 8 thousand townspeople have left Ochakov. At the same time, according to preliminary estimates of the Ukrainian authorities, about 200 people live on the occupied Kinburn Peninsula, but contact with them has been completely lost.

Earlier, residents of Ochakiv, Mykolaiv Oblast, shared with journalists how they have been living under constant shelling for more than 500 days of a full-scale invasion.

In April, NikVesti visited Ochakiv and showed in a photo report what the most dangerous point of the Mykolaiv region looks like.
