More than 20 people died on the Black Sea beaches in Odesa in two years

In the period from 2022 to 2024, 22 people died on the beaches of the Black Sea.

Hromadske writes about this, referring to the response of the Odesa Oblast police.

The police officers note that the accounting and recording of injuries/deaths of visitors to the beaches is not provided for by regulatory and legal acts. And yet, according to the information and analytical subsystem of the National Police of Ukraine, in 2022, 4 cases of death at sea were recorded, in 2023 — 13 cases of death, in 2024 — 5 cases.

The police, in turn, deployed three temporary police stations on the beaches of Odesa — «Arkadiia», «Landzheron» and «Zolotyi Bereh».

«As a result of the redistribution of forces and means, additional outfits and car patrols are deployed, the maximum number of both subordinate and dowry personnel, including members of public formations, is involved in the performance of the specified tasks,» the police reported.

In addition, cases of violation of the rules for visiting beaches are recorded, the police conducts explanatory work on the dangers of being on the coast and in the water.

It will be recalled that the first Caleton beach was officially opened in Odesa. In general, it is planned to provide access to about 20 locations in the city and Odesa district, as well as to one lagoon in Izmail district.
