Ukraine returned home the bodies of 212 fallen defenders

Ukraine returned the bodies of another 212 servicemen who gave their lives defending the country.

This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

«It was possible to return the bodies of the fallen soldiers from the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Kharkiv directions, as well as from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, to their native land,» the message reads.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will transport the repatriated bodies and remains to state institutions. There, representatives of law enforcement agencies and forensic medical experts will identify the victims. Then the defenders' bodies will be handed over to their relatives for burial.

The repatriation of the bodies took place in cooperation with the Joint Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, Central Security Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other law enforcement agencies, departments, and international organizations.

We will remind, in April of this year, Ukraine returned the bodies of 99 servicemen who gave their lives defending the country.

On March 29, as a result of repatriation measures, 121 fallen servicemen were returned to Ukraine.

Also, Ukraine managed to bring home the bodies of 82 dead soldiers. The transfer of bodies from the temporarily occupied territories took place with the assistance of the Office of the Commissioner for Missing Persons under the Ministry of Reintegration in cooperation with law enforcement agencies.

Ukraine managed to bring home the bodies of 83 dead Ukrainian soldiers.

It was previously reported that on December 22, the bodies of 66 defenders who died in battles were returned to the territory controlled by the government of Ukraine.
