The municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks» has promised to resume automatic watering in Vitovskyi Square by July

The municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks» is completing work to repair the damaged automatic watering system in Vitovskyi Park, located in the Korabelnyi district.

This was announced during a live broadcast by the director of the municipal enterprise, Dmytro Chuchmay, according to NikVesti.

It should be noted that Vitovskyi Park underwent a major refurbishment ahead of the 2020 local elections. At the time, it was hailed as the most technologically advanced: an automatic irrigation system, solar panels and a new children’s playground were installed, and the area underwent comprehensive landscaping. The damage to the automatic irrigation system came to light in October last year.

Responding to questions from Mykolaiv residents about the fact that many trees in Mykolaiv had withered last summer, the head of the municipal utility confirmed this, noting that there had been an abnormal heatwave in 2025. However, Dmytro Chuchmai assured that the enterprise’s staff are watering all green spaces according to schedule, paying particular attention to young trees.

«In the summer of 2025, there was a prolonged heatwave and a lack of rainfall; some green spaces in the city’s parks did indeed deteriorate. However, we are carrying out this watering work in accordance with the approved schedules. Priority is given to young trees, flower beds and shrubs, which are most in need of additional watering,» said Dmytro Chuchmai.

He also mentioned that the company will soon complete repairs to the automatic watering system in Vitovskyi Park.

«Today, the company is carrying out work to restore the automatic watering system in Vitovskyi Square. It had been working for some time previously, but was then damaged. Today, the company’s staff are carrying out this work, and it will be completed by the end of July. We plan to use this as a model to install automatic watering systems in outlying squares. Last year, such work was carried out at the Ternivskyi Roundabout, and it is now watered automatically. Next, we will do the same in Vitovsky Square,» said Dmytro Chuchmai.

It was previously reported that «Mykolaiv Parks» explained why the hazardous trees on the bypass road in the Korabelnyi district have not yet been felled.
