Zelensky thanked Denmark for supporting Mykolaiv: «Exactly as agreed»

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, expressed gratitude to Denmark for supporting Mykolaiv.

He said this in his video message after a working visit to Mykolaiv on Friday, October 20.

— I am especially grateful to Denmark for effective support of Mykolaiv, for sincere assistance to the city — exactly as we agreed with Prime Minister Frederiksen, — said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

It is worth noting that in Mykolaiv, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on security and life activities, and also visited the wounded during military operations.

— Held a meeting in Mykolaiv — leaders of the region, the city, the military, law enforcement officers — regarding the protection of the region, our infrastructure, our ports, corridors in the Black Sea. They also analyzed social issues that are important for Mykolaiv and the towns and villages of the region: energy, heat supply, water supply in Mykolaiv and the region, the quality of water supplied to the city, social support of people, economic work. Everything that really needs attention at all levels of government, — said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

We remind you that at the end of March 2022, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke before the Danish Parliament. Then he talked about the rocket attack on Mykolayiv RMA and offered Denmark to take part in the reconstruction of the city after the war.

A few weeks later, Denmark responded to his proposal and agreed to help rebuild Mykolaiv. Later, Denmark's Minister of International Development, Dan Jorgensen, explained why his country responded to the president's proposal in a comment to «NikVesti». He also noted that his country will do everything necessary to restore Mykolaiv.

At the end of August 2022, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, and the Minister of International Development of Denmark, Flemming Møller Mortensen, signed a memorandum of cooperation. The memorandum envisages joint work on the formation of reconstruction projects and the involvement of investors from various countries in the restoration of Mykolaiv. At the same time, on July 3, the Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark announced a new aid package for the Mykolaiv region.

Currently, approximately 60% of the aid that Denmark sends to Ukraine goes to Mykolaiv and the Mykolaiv region.
