Ukraine is disappointed by Switzerland's decision to support the plan to end the war from China and Brazil

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine does not understand why Switzerland decided to support the Sino-Brazilian initiative to end the war, and is disappointed by such a decision.

This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hromadske writes.

The agency reminded that in June, Ukraine together with Switzerland held the first Global Peace Summit.

After that, the countries continued to cooperate on increasing the number of signatories of the final Communiqué of this summit. Switzerland also participates in thematic conferences on specific points of the «peace formula» of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

«There is no need to create additional formats and platforms for discussing ways to achieve peace for Ukraine. The «Peace Formula» provides a complete toolkit and appropriate platforms for discussing all ideas, consolidating different visions and concepts,» the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

In addition, the department emphasized that all ideas, discussions and plans for restoring peace for Ukraine should be based on two principles:

• nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.
• proposals should be based on the UN Charter and include respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders.

Any initiatives that do not contain a clear reference to the UN Charter and do not guarantee the full restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine are unacceptable, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.

«Those initiatives that do not recognize the fact of Russia's unprovoked armed aggression against Ukraine, equate the victim and the aggressor, propose de-escalation at the expense of Ukraine's sovereignty and territories, cannot be supported by Ukraine,» the agency explained.

Therefore, Ukraine called on Switzerland and all countries that support international law and the UN Charter to avoid participating in «peace initiatives» that «can only complicate the process of achieving a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace.»
