From January 2025, the European Union plans to provide Ukraine with 1.5 billion euros per month from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.

This was stated by the newly appointed President of the European Council Antonio Kosta during a press conference with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The official emphasized that Ukraine will be able to use these funds, in particular, for military purposes.

Also this month, the EU will allocate 4.2 billion euros of macro-financial assistance.

In addition, in the first half of the year, the EU and Ukraine will work on opening at least the first two negotiation clusters regarding European integration.

As you know, disputes about the fate of the frozen assets of the Russian Federation have been going on for more than two years, since on February 27, 2022, the European Union blocked operations related to the management of reserves of the Russian Central Bank. The assets are under the custody of Euroclear in Belgium.

It will be recalled that on June 24, European countries approved the first tranche of revenues from frozen Russian assets in the amount of up to 1.4 billion euros to help Ukraine.

Earlier, Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis said that Ukraine will receive the first tranche of revenues from the frozen assets of the Russian Federation by the end of summer.
