The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Kim, believes that elections are not needed during the war, but he does not rule out running for office if they are held.
In an interview with Ukrinform, Vitalii Kim admitted that he is considering running for the post of Mykolaiv mayor, NikVesti reports.
At the same time, he does not rule out that he may run for MP.
«It's 50-50 — either I will or I won't,» said Vitalii Kim, answering a journalist's question whether he plans to run for parliament or for mayor of Mykolaiv.
At the same time, Vitalii Kim expressed the opinion that it is not necessary to hold elections in Ukraine now, during the war. He is sure that elections during the war will weaken the country, which is beneficial for Russia. Vitalii Kim added that he despises politicians who are already preparing for possible elections.
«Elections during the war are beneficial to the Russians. Because in any case, there will be discord, we will be distracted from the main problems, and this will weaken us. I understand that legally they have to be held, but at the same time, during a war, there has to be a strong power vertical so that bad people don't undermine the situation. So, in my opinion, there is no need for elections now, and I despise those who are doing this,» said Vitalii Kim.
Earlier, the head of the Mykolaiv regional military administration, Vitalii Kim, said that elections could take place if a truce is reached and martial law is lifted in Ukraine this year.
At the same time, he is wary of the possible establishment of military rule in Ukraine.
