Donald Trump, photo: Getty ImagesUS President Donald Trump has said that he has some control over the escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian war and can stop Vladimir Putin.
In an interview with Outkick founder Clay Travis, he again mentioned his «good relations» with the Russian leader, writes «Evropeiska pravda».
«He didn't invade anywhere when I was a president», Donald Trump said, stressing that Russian military actions in Georgia, Crimea and Ukraine happened during the reign of his predecessors.
«I don't think there is anyone in the world who can stop Putin but me, and I think I can stop him,» the US president said.
He also noted that during his presidency, they had «rational discussions» and stressed the importance of ending the fighting.
«They're losing 2,500 young people every week, and they're Russians, and they're Ukrainians,» Donald Trump said, adding that he wanted the war to end.
As a reminder, negotiations on the proposed 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, 23 March. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff did not specify whether Ukraine would participate in the talks, saying only that the US delegation would be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Adviser Mike Volz.
Earlier, the White House said that the peace talks would also begin with technical discussions on the implementation of a naval truce in the Black Sea. In addition, negotiations on a naval truce will begin in the Middle East in the near future.
