On friendship and cooperation: a mural dedicated to the Kingdom of Denmark was unveiled for the 235th anniversary of Mykolaiv

On Saturday, September 14, a mural in honor of friendship and cooperation with the Kingdom was officially opened in the center of Mykolaiv opposite the Office of the Danish Embassy.

The event was timed to the 235th anniversary of the city of Mykolaiv, NikVesti correspondent reports.

The mural on the wall of the Mykolaiv Academic Art and Drama Theater was painted by Mykolaiv artists Dmytro and Olena Voloshyn. In the picture, the artists depicted prominent sights of Denmark, for example, the zoo in Copenhagen, which is one of the oldest in Europe, and the famous amusement park with ancient slides «Tivoli Gardens». The picture also has the inscriptions «Thank you, Denmark» and «So different but so close», which in Ukrainian means «So different, but so close».

In addition to Mykolaiv officials and politicians, representatives of Denmark also took part in the opening, in particular the deputy head of the mission of the Danish Embassy in Ukraine Ens Alsbirk and the head of the Office of the Royal Danish Embassy in Mykolaiv Jakob Hansen.

«The partnership between Denmark and Mykolaiv is for a long time. This is a partnership for decades. We are very grateful that you invited us to the City Day. We are very happy to see so many people. Next year there will be even more. I say on behalf of all Danes to the people of Mykolaiv — thank you very much!,» Jakob Hansen addressed the audience.

The Mayor of Mykolaiv Oleksandr Sienkevych and the head of the Mykolaiv RMA Vitalii Kim emphasized in their speech that they work closely together with their teams to make the city and the region better.

At the opening of the mural, the director of the Mykolaiv Zoo, Volodymyr Topchyi, addressed the representatives of the Kingdom of Denmark, noting that he had visited the Copenhagen Zoo depicted on the mural several times. He thanked Denmark for its support and presented the Danish Zoo with the Order of Mykola Leontovych, which no other zoo in the world has.
