Animal feeding at the Mykolaiv Zoo

Back in September 2022, the Mykolaiv Zoo collected funds for animal feed with the help of those who cared. Then we managed to collect about 200 thousand hryvnias.

Simultaneously with the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukrainians began to buy tickets to the zoo online in order to financially support the institution. At that time, the city was under constant shelling and people could not visit the zoo.

A year later, in April 2023, the director of the zoo, Volodymyr Topchii, reported that the institution has significant underfunding and the need for money for food for animals is covered by less than 50%.

Already in October 2024, the municipal institution «Mykolaiv Zoo» announced four tenders for the supply of feed for animals during 2025 for 8 million hryvnias.

In the same month, the deputies of the city council additionally allocated 2.5 million hryvnias from the city budget for the purchase of fodder for the animals of the Mykolaiv Zoo.
