During 2025-2026, Mykolaiv plans to spend more than one million hryvnias from the city budget on organizing recreation for people with disabilities on an inclusive beach in Odesa.

This was discussed during the meeting of the Mykolaiv City Council Commission on Health Protection, NikVesti reports.

Nadiia Skopenko, deputy director of the department of social protection of the population, explained that the program provides compensation for the cost of transport services for people with disabilities so that they can get to a place of rest.

«We had a deputy mandate to provide the opportunity for persons with disabilities to go on vacation to an inclusive beach in the city of Odesa. We thought about how to do this and made changes to activities and tasks. To compensate for the cost of the provided services, we included the point of purchase of transport services for persons and children with disabilities for trips to the inclusive beach,» explained Nadiia Skopenko.

In 2025, they plan to spend 485.5 thousand hryvnias on compensation for transport services, and in 2026 — 535.9 thousand hryvnias. Services will be purchased through the ProZorro system.

We will remind you that in August 2024, the Mykolaiv City Council approved the target program «Mykolaiv without barriers» for 2024-2026. The program should provide an opportunity for the formation of a comprehensive system of rehabilitation and integration of persons with disabilities, strengthening of social protection for persons with disabilities disabled and other less mobile population groups.

It should be noted that, according to the data of the Dosposno.UA rating, in 2021, Mykolaiv took 13th place among 19 large cities in terms of accessibility.

On June 13, the «Barrier-free Ukraine» conference took place in Mykolaiv, where the «Barrier-free Handbook» was presented.

During the conference, Mykolaiv City Council deputy Yurii Stepanets reminded that the city government should focus more attention on barrier-free and accessible city infrastructure for people with disabilities.
