The City Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital in Odesa has been undergoing a ten-year reconstruction. Currently, work is underway on the children's ward and the bacteriological laboratory.
According to the mayor's office, the phased reconstruction of the hospital began in 2015 with the construction of a boxed building for patients with droplet infections.
Later, the hospital received a renovated reception area, three new semi-boxed buildings, a modern PCR laboratory, two oxygen stations and four cryocylinders.

The city authorities reported that repairs are currently underway in the hospital's two-storey children's building. Small wards with their own bathrooms and showers are being arranged there, and the intensive care unit is being repaired. In addition, a medical lift and ramp are being installed.
It is noted that repairs are also underway in the hospital's bacteriological laboratory building.
According to «Dumska», a meeting of the Standing Committee on Territory Development, Urban Design, Architecture and Protection of Cultural Heritage recently considered allocating an additional 35 million hryvnias from the city budget to repair the children's department of the infectious diseases hospital.
In particular, five million hryvnias are planned to be allocated for energy saving in the building where the laboratory is located. It is noted that almost 100 million hryvnias is needed to fully restore the hospital.

City council member Anastasia Bolshedvorova is convinced that it is necessary to receive a report on the work performed and the funds spent.
«We are constantly talking about the infectious diseases hospital. We are constantly investing money there. What if, for example, we asked the management for a letter in which we could see all the figures, how much we have spent in total and how much more is needed. We can also organise a visiting commission to the hospital to assess the work done», she explained.
It is worth reminding that in 2025, 212 million hryvnias is planned to be allocated from the Mykolaiv city budget to support medical facilities and services for the community.
