Members of the Mykolaiv City Council have approved a land-use plan and transferred five plots of land in the Korabelnyi district to the Department of Municipal Services for permanent use. There are plans to build houses for displaced persons on this land with the support of donors.
The councillors backed the decision at a city council session on 29 October, according to NikVesti.
It should be noted that the plots are situated on Bohoiavlenskyi Avenue.
During the discussion of the matter, City Council Secretary Dmytro Falko proposed putting it to a separate vote due to the importance and urgency of the decision.
According to him, at the previous meeting, councillors had already authorised the preparation of land-use planning documentation. Now that the draft has been drawn up, the formalities for the plots need to be finalised.
«The urgency stems from the fact that donors are involved, so that they can meet the deadline,» noted Dmytro Falko.
For his part, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych reported that the city authorities had also suggested to their partners that they consider the possibility of building more houses on this site. In particular, they hope to achieve this by reducing the size of the areas surrounding the buildings.
«So that it is a pleasant place to live and functions as a small neighbourhood. We are therefore working on this, and I would ask for urgent support on this issue as well,» said the mayor.
As a result, councillors backed the decision to approve the land-use plan and transfer all five plots to the Department of Municipal Services for permanent use.
Earlier, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych had ordered the preparation of five plots of land on Bohoiavlenskyi Avenue in the Korabelnyi district to be expedited for the installation of modular homes.
Ihor Nabatov, First Deputy Director of the Department of Municipal Services, had previously noted that the documentation for the plots in the Korabelnyi district had been drawn up and had now been submitted for registration.
What is known about the modular housing project
On 6 August, the Mykolaiv City Council authorised the Department of Municipal Services to draw up a land-use plan for the allocation of land on Bohoiavlenskyi Avenue for the future installation of modular homes.
This decision was reached as a compromise after councillors failed to support the transfer of the plot to the municipal enterprise «Svii Dim». Ultimately, it was decided to process the land allocation through the city department.
Previously, a larger plot – over 3.5 hectares – had been considered for this project. The plan was to use it to build a modular settlement for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and, in the long term, as social housing. The city had offered the plot to international partners for the implementation of the project.
