In the village of Veselynove in the Mykolaiv region, there are plans to carry out major repairs to two bridges on the R-55 «Odesa — Voznesensk — Novyi Buh» road and the access roads leading to them. The procurement procedure has already been completed, and the documents for signing the contract with the contractor are currently being prepared.
This was reported by the Mykolaiv region Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in response to an information request from representatives of the Veselynove initiative group.
The condition of the roads in Veselynove is a cause for concern amongst local residents. According to representatives of the initiative group, people are suffering from dust due to the state of the roads and heavy lorry traffic.
«We wish to emphasise once again the urgent need for work to commence on this section as soon as possible, as the constant dust from previous repairs using a mixture of crushed stone and sand is preventing residents across most of the village from living a normal life, given the heavy transit traffic of heavy goods vehicles in the area,» the letter states.
Therefore, representatives of the action group have approached the Reconstruction Service to obtain official information regarding the planned repairs and the condition of the T-15-06 «Mykolaiv — Domanivka — Berizky» and the R-55, which connects Odesa, Voznesensk and Novyi Buh.
In its reply, the agency notes that in June–July 2026, routine repairs and maintenance were carried out on certain sections of the T-15-06 road, particularly within the Veselynove community.
At the same time, work on the section between Pishchanyi Brod and Stavky was suspended due to a lack of necessary funding. It may resume provided that funds are allocated.
Separately, the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in the Mykolaiv region has stated that repairs to the bridges in Veselynove are due to begin shortly. This concerns the bridges at kilometres 85+486 and 87+744, as well as the approaches to them within the village. The response did not specify exactly when work would begin. The next step is expected to be the signing of a contract with the contractor.
Residents have repeatedly raised the issue of road repairs and have tried to draw the attention of the relevant authorities to the problem.
It should be recalled that in October 2021, residents of Veselynove in the Voznesensk district announced another protest, demanding repairs to the dilapidated T-15-06 and R-55 roads leading to the village.
Prior to that, in September 2021, the village’s residents threatened to block the road on a regular basis if the roads through Veselynove were not brought up to standard.
Even earlier, in June 2021, Artem Chornomorov, a Member of Parliament from the «Servant of the People» party representing constituency 131 in Mykolaiv region, expressed outrage at the lack of decent roads in the amalgamated Voznesensk district and called for at least some patching work to be carried out.
Also, in February 2024, members of the Voznesensk City Council appealed to MPs and relevant authorities with a request to repair the R-55 «Odesa — Voznesensk — Novyi Buh» public road of national importance.
In February 2025, the then head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, stated that the region expected to receive 500 million hryvnias from the state budget to repair the R-55 «Novyi Buh — Veselynove» road.
