The Alley of Unyielding Cities will be moved to Mykolaiv

On the occasion of the City Day, the «Alley of Unyielding Cities» will be opened in Mykolaiv, which has been standing in Odesa for several months.

This was announced by Yurii Liubarov, Head of the Department of Culture of the Mykolaiv City Council, during an online briefing on 12 September, NikVesti reports.

The installation consists of 16 columns that symbolise the unbreakable Ukrainian cities. On each pedestal are fragments of missiles and shells found during the restoration of infrastructure, and notched plates show the number of Russian strikes on each city.

Among the cities included in the first version of the exhibition: Odesa, Kherson, Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kramatorsk, Kurakhove, Vovchansk, Sumy, Myrhorod, Orikhove, Izyum, Kryvyi Rih, and later Mykolaiv was added.

«Also on City Day, the «Alley of Unyielding Cities» will be opened. The exhibition, which was in Odesa yesterday and had been on display there for several months, is moving to Mykolaiv tomorrow. Everyone is invited to visit the alley, which will be there for a long time,» said Yurii Liubarov.

The exact location and time of the opening in Mykolaiv have not yet been announced. The exhibition will remain in the city for a long time.

Earlier it was reported that on 21 June, an exhibition commemorating the victims of the war and Ukrainian cities that survived was opened on Birzhova Square (formerly Dumska) in Odesa. However, the list did not include Mykolaiv and Voznesensk, cities that played a key defensive role in southern Ukraine, which drew criticism. Following this, the Odesa City Hall promised to create a stele in honour of Mykolaiv, and a separate column for the city appeared in the «Alley», which was opened on City Day, 2 September.
