Damaged entrance to a building on Krylova Street in Mykolaiv, photo: NikVestiThe destroyed part of the apartment building at 54 Krylova Street (now Yevheniia Lohinova Street) in Mykolaiv is promised to be demolished by the end of March 2026. The work will be carried out with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
This was announced by Ihor Nabatov, First Deputy Director of the City Council's Department of Housing and Communal Services, in a comment to NikVesti.
He said that the apartments next to the destroyed train, which had survived, had started to leak during the rains. After that, the demolished sections will have to be reinforced to prevent further leaks. It should be noted that the half-ruined building has been standing for more than three years — since September 2022.
«They are currently completing a tender to find a contractor, but they have assured us that partial demolition will be completed by 31 March. We have already visited 54 Krylova Street once with representatives of the UNDP, because the chairman of the board is very hopeful that this issue will finally be resolved. In fact, there is also a problem with water leakage, because it is necessary to dismantle and then reinforce the structure to prevent water from leaking into neighbouring flats in another stairwell. The residents have installed something themselves to prevent leaks, but this is not a normal situation at all. In addition, there are structures that are overhanging and really dangerous,» said Ihor Nabatov.
We would like to remind you that both the residents of the building and the Department of Housing and Communal Services have already conducted three expert assessments of the condition of the building at 54 Krylova Street.
The first two gave opposite answers: both demolition and restoration. Because of this, the Department of Housing and Communal Services ordered a third examination, which recommended demolishing the 8th-10th floors of the seventh entrance. First Deputy Director of the Department Igor Nabatov added that the final third technical report made it possible for all residents to receive housing certificates under the «eVidnovlennia» programme.

The destroyed building at 54 Krylova Street
An enemy strike on the building at 54 Krylova Street took place in September 2022. At that time, the building was hit by S-300 missiles.
The refusal of the owners of apartments at 54 Krylova Street to dismantle part of the half-ruined building became known in mid-October 2023. At that time, the Department of Housing and Communal Services of the City Council reported that they did not know how to solve this problem.
Later, Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych explained that the locals' fears were due to the fact that their land plots could become the site of mansion construction. At the same time, the director of the Department of Housing and Communal Services, Dmytro Bezdolnyi, said that if the locals continued to refuse to demolish the building, they would have minimal chances of restoring it in the future.
In November 2023, residents of the high-rise building commissioned an independent expert assessment of the building, which had been partially destroyed by enemy shelling. The assessment concluded that the building could be restored.
To finally determine whether the destroyed entrance to the high-rise building at 54 Krylova Street could be restored, the Department of Housing and Utilities commissioned a third expert assessment.
