The director of the electric transport company has stated that there are enough trolleybuses in Mykolaiv for another route

Following the launch of trolleybus route №14 in Mykolaiv, the city may consider introducing another route. Alternatively, they may extend an existing route in the city.

This was announced during a Facebook live stream by Yurii Smetana, director of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaivelektrotrans», according to NikVesti.

Residents of Mykolaiv asked whether there were plans to extend trolleybus route No. 5 along Kherson Highway to the Industrial Zone.

«We have tested many routes. And I think that following the launch of route No. 14, we have the capacity, that is, we have enough vehicles to introduce another route,» said Yurii Smetana.

However, he added that additional drivers would need to be trained

«And together with the Mykolaiv City Council’s Transport Department, we will consider the issue of another route. Perhaps it will be an extension of №5, perhaps some other route,» noted the head of the electric transport department.

Route №5 currently connects Budivelnykiv Street and the Namyv neighbourhood.

As a reminder, from 28 April, a new trolleybus route №14 will begin operating, running along the route «Mykolaiv-Vantazhnyi — Kazarskyi Street».
