In the Odesa region, there are plans to increase the number of officially open beaches during the 2026 summer season. This applies only to those locations that meet safety requirements and have shelters.

This was announced by the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleh Kiper, during the «Yedyni Novyny» telethon, according to NikVesti.

According to him, the number of open beaches is gradually increasing.

«In August 2023, 6–7 beaches were opened, and by 2025 a total of 36 beaches had been opened. These are beaches that have been inspected, where there is proper shelter, and where it is safer to be. There will be no fewer than 36, as there were last year; on the contrary, there will be more. Two weeks ago, I signed an order to inspect all beaches that submit applications to open for the holiday season. The relevant commissions will carry out their work, provide recommendations for opening, and we will put them into effect by a decision of the Defence Council and the corresponding order,» he noted.

Kipper is convinced that the Odesa region’s coastline is not just about the tourist season, but an opportunity for people’s physical and psychological recovery.

«We are doing this to provide as many opportunities as possible for the recovery of our military personnel, their families and citizens. And let’s be frank — so that business can operate, so that our entrepreneurs who have relocated or left can return. It is also important to support them, just as they support the Armed Forces,» added the head of the region.

It is worth noting that in 2025, Ukrainians most frequently travelled to the Carpathians, whilst foreign visitors chose to stay in major cities and well-known resorts, including Odesa.

At the same time, over the years of full-scale war, revenue from the tourist tax in the Mykolaiv region has fallen by more than 70%.
