Director of «Mykolaiv Parks» has announced that they will not be planting summer flowers in the «Heart of the City» square

Dmytro Chuchmai, director of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks», has announced that there are no plans to plant new flowers in «Heart of the City» Square in the spot where tulips bloomed in the spring.

He made this statement during a live broadcast on social media on 9 June, according to NikVesti.

Residents complain that the tulips planted in April have long since finished flowering and have been left untended for over a month — only dry stems remain in the flowerbeds. People are asking why there are no plans to plant new flowers and why the area has still not been refurbished.

«Why have the flowerbeds in the «Heart of the City» square remained untouched for over a month since the tulips finished blooming? Are there plans to plant summer flowers there, and if so, when?» asked local residents.

«We do not plan to plant flowers there, as we will be replanting the tulips. It’s such a lovely photo spot. And this year we’ve seen how pleased residents are with it, so we’ll continue to develop this initiative,» replied Dmytro Chuchmai.

He did not specify exactly how they plan to develop this area. Meanwhile, it was previously reported that «Mykolaiv Parks» plans to grow flowers in its own greenhouses and subsequently plant them in the city’s flower beds. This idea was adopted from the experience of other cities, notably Kremenchuk.

It should be noted that over the past few months, residents of Mykolaiv have increasingly complained about uncut grass and weeds in various parts of the city. In particular, near buildings and in courtyards. The municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks» responded that management companies and residents’ associations are responsible for this.

Previously, residents of Mykolaiv had complained about the condition of the «Kazka» children’s playground near houses 32–38 on Okeanivska Street. «DEZ Pilot» repainted and repaired the playground itself.

However, the grass remained uncut, and rubbish, including cut branches, was not cleared away. According to the Korabelnyi District administration, the playground is unclaimed, meaning its territory is not assigned to the nearby buildings. The administration was due to organise a clean-up and mow the grass there by 10 June.

NikVesti also reported that the trees, which were damaged last September during the construction of the pavement along Heroes of Ukraine Avenue, are currently in satisfactory condition.
