The arrested yacht Royal Romance of Viktor Medvedchuk was transferred to the flag of Ukraine. The vessel became the first seized asset in the history of Ukraine, which was searched abroad, legalized and issued with a state flag registration.
This was reported by the head of the Agency for Search and Asset Management, Oksana Duma.
Olena Duma added that from now on the vessel is subject to the jurisdiction of Ukraine. It received a certificate of the right to sail under the state flag of Ukraine — this is a historic moment for Ukraine.
«The yacht «Royal Romance» is the first seized asset in the history of Ukraine, wanted by the National Agency abroad, received a legalized decision of the Croatian court and received state registration of the flag in Ukraine,» the message reads.
The State Service of Maritime and Inland Water Transport and Shipping of Ukraine has made relevant changes to the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Olena Duma noted that the yacht will be auctioned in the future.
Earlier it was reported that the auction house, which was supposed to organize the sale of the arrested RoyalRomance yacht, refused to sign the contract. ARMA notes that this is due to Medvedchuk's «resistance».
The case of Viktor Medvedchuk
In September 2022, Ukraine returned 215 defenders from the captivity of the Russian occupiers, of which 108 were fighters from Azov. All of them were exchanged for the detained Viktor Medvedchuk.
Before that, he told the security forces everything that needed to be known, brought out other traitors, and generally betrayed everyone.
As you know, Viktor Medvedchuk faces up to 15 years in prison.
In April, he was captured while trying to escape from Ukraine.
Earlier, Viktor Medvedchuk said that he dealt with issues of removing a part of the main oil pipeline «Samara — Western direction» from state ownership at the request of ex-president Petro Poroshenko.
