On June 11, during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin, the governments of Ukraine and Italy signed a memorandum on the post-war reconstruction of Odesa and the Odesa region.
Oleh Kiper, the head of Odesa RMA, told about this in a comment to NikVesti.
«It was the Italian government that expressed such a desire after the flight to the cathedral, which is located in the center of Odessa. And now, legally and officially, we will additionally write down these agreements for ourselves,» said the head of RMA.
Within the framework of this memorandum, the Odesa region is counting on further cooperation with Italy in matters of restoration and development, in particular, of port infrastructure and electricity generation.
«Odesa region has become a powerful logistics hub and a large platform for import and export of goods. We want Italy to join these processes. Taking into account the load on the port infrastructure, the critical situation with energy, we hope for cooperation with Italy in this direction,» said Oleh Kiper during his speech at the conference.
We will remind you that on the night of July 23, the Russian occupying forces attacked Odesa. As a result, there is a dead person and injured. Civilian infrastructure, residential buildings and a religious building were damaged. At the same time, a Russian Kh-22 anti-ship missile hit the altar of the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral in Odessa.
Later, the Italian government announced that it would help rebuild the destroyed cathedral. Italy plans to involve two of the country's most prestigious cultural institutions in the restoration of the destroyed monument: the Milan Triennale and the MAXXI museum in Rome, «to celebrate the long and very rich history of exchange between Odessa and Italian culture.»
