The Mayor of Odesa (2014 - 2025)

Hennadiy Trukhanov is a Ukrainian politician who was Mayor of Odesa from May 2014 to October 2025 and a member of the Verkhovna Rada in 2012–2014. In October 2025 President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stripped him of Ukrainian citizenship over a Russian passport, and Trukhanov lost the mayor’s office. He denies holding Russian citizenship and in April 2026 challenged the decree at the Supreme Court. After his removal, the former mayor was charged with negligence over the deaths of people during a downpour in Odesa, and the High Anti-Corruption Court raised his bail to ₴42 million in a case over the seizure of community land. In his place, a city military administration headed by Serhii Lysak was set up in Odesa.
