nuclear power plant in Pivdennoukrainsk, Mykolaiv Oblast

The South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant is located in the city of Pivdennoukrainsk in Mykolaiv Oblast. In December 2025 Ukraine's nuclear regulator extended the licence of power unit No. 2 until the end of 2035. Two new units, No. 4 and No. 5, are planned at the plant, and in April 2026 the Cabinet of Ministers approved a nuclear fuel production complex in Pivdennoukrainsk. During the war the IAEA regularly reports Russian drones near the plant, and after strikes on the power grid the plant has lost power lines. In 2024 the plant signed contracts worth UAH 595 million and almost UAH 2.3 billion to build engineering protection.

MykVisti covers the plant's safety, IAEA reports, procurement and criminal cases against plant officials.
