Kim on the preparation of critical facilities in the Mykolayiv region for possible Russian attacks in winter: «Our situation is not bad»

Vitalii Kim, the head of Mykolaiv RMA, said that the critical infrastructure facilities of the region are ready for possible Russian shelling in the winter period.

He told journalists about this during a briefing on October 28, writes «NikVesti».

Vitaly Kim said that nine large critical infrastructure facilities in the region have already been prepared for the possible consequences of enemy shelling.

— We have a good situation with critical infrastructure. We «closed» all the objects that were proven to us by the Cabinet of Ministers and the President's Office, and in addition one more large one. In addition, we «closed» gas, water supply, and drainage. They did it at their own, non-budgeted expense, although it was supposed to be done by Ukrenerho and the Reconstruction Agency. Although no, I'm lying here. We bought something for 10.7 million, but we did ten times more work. These are nine large facilities, if I'm not mistaken, we closed them, — said the head of RMA.

At the same time, he added that anti-shahid battalions will work to protect these objects in the region: «Now the President's Office has an additional task — to deploy battalions against martyrs. This is also done today. We prepare a report and hand over equipment, sights, night vision devices, GPS with searchlights to the military. That is, there is additional physical protection as well».

The head of the RMA said that there are also mobile boiler houses in the region, which, if necessary, will be used for the operation of critical infrastructure facilities.

— During this year, we conducted 17 mobile boiler rooms on gas, 17 mobile boiler rooms on alternative, which insure our points so that we can quickly switch. In our region, 58% of boiler houses do not run on gas, but instead run on alternative fuels. There are sensitive points that I don't want to talk about, but we understand them and the Armed Forces understand them. We are defending ourselves, — said Vitalii Kim.

It is about 17 mobile solid fuel boilers that can be transported to any place, and 17 boilers for social infrastructure facilities in Pervomaysk: schools, kindergartens and hospitals, «NikVesti» in Mykolaiv RMA clarified.

It was previously reported that the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration will purchase gabions to protect 10 critical infrastructure facilities of the energy sector of the Mykolaiv Region from possible Russian shelling.

Earlier, the head of Mykolayiv RMA Vitalii Kim reported that the critical infrastructure of the region is not a priority target for Russian shelling, but the local authorities have been preparing for possible threats for several months.

However, during the last days of September, the Russians attacked Mykolaiv with rockets twice. Vitalii Kim believes that they have started preparing for attacks on critical infrastructure in winter. At the same time, he said, Mykolaiv Oblast is preparing for possible power outages due to Russian shelling of the energy infrastructure.
