On Monday, September 16, a renovated student dormitory of the Agrarian University was opened in Mykolaiv with the support of Denmark.

Ambassador of Denmark Ole Egberg Mikkelsen visited the opening of the renovated dormitory, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Ukraine reported.

«Back in 2023, President Zelenskyy and Ambassador Ole Egberg Mikkelsen met with students and employees of the Mykolaiv State Agrarian University,» the embassy said in a statement.

Then university students complained about the bad condition of the dormitory and the lack of a fire safety system. After that, Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that Denmark will solve these issues. In partnership with UNOPS Ukraine, a security system was installed in the hostel.

«After a proper assessment, the Danish side decided to take over part of the work and, together with the Ukrainian side, bring the dormitory to order... The fire safety system, financed by Denmark in partnership with UNOPS Ukraine, started working there. Thanks to these changes, students were able to safely return to their rooms and continue their studies in face-to-face mode,» the embassy reported.

We will remind, the Deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv Serhii Koreniev said that Denmark plans to help the city for the next 10 years.

Earlier it was reported that representatives of Denmark were satisfied with «positive developments» in Mykolaiv and announced a new phase of partnership, which involves the economic and social recovery of the city.
