In Mykolaiv, the tariff for garbage collection will not increase for the time being and will remain the same as it was set in 2024.

The decision was made on Wednesday, 24 December, during a meeting of the executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council, NikVesti reports.

According to Ihor Nabatov, deputy director of Mykolaiv's housing and communal services department, the municipal enterprises «Obrii-DKP» and «Mykolaivkomuntrans» asked to leave the tariff unchanged until all the statistics for 2025 are available.

«I propose to leave the tariff approved by the previous decision of the executive committee on 25 December 2024 at the current level. What is the reason for this decision? The fact is that the current Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers №1031, which regulates the procedure for calculating tariffs, provides for the determination of the tariff for a calendar year — from 1 January to 31 December. Our two carriers have asked us to keep the tariff at the current level at least until all the statistical data for 2025 is available. This will allow us to consider the possibility of recalculation or determine that recalculation is not needed,» said Ihor Nabatov.

As you know, from 1 January 2025, the following tariffs will apply to the utility company «Mykolaivkomuntrans»

  • collection and transportation of mixed (solid) household waste — 246.11 hryvnias per cubic metre;
  • collection and transportation of bulky household waste — 277.84 hryvnias per cubic metre;
  • collection and transportation of repair waste — 277.84 hryvnias per cubic metre.

Tariffs for the municipal enterprise «Obrii-DKP»:

  • collection and transportation of mixed (solid) household waste — 271.81 hryvnias per cubic metre;
  • collection and transportation of bulky household waste — 444.93 hryvnias per cubic metre;
  • collection and transportation of repair waste — 427.74 hryvnias per cubic metre.

As a reminder, waste sorting in Mykolaiv remained on paper for many years, but in September 2024, the city council approved the procedure for the operation of a household waste sorting complex and announced an investment tender to select a contractor. The winner of the tender had to build a sorting line near the landfill and launch a separate waste collection system at the city level.

NikVesti found out how the tender went, why it drew criticism, and what awaits the landfill in the coming years. Read more in our article «How Mykolaiv wants to start sorting waste».
