The baby found in a rubbish bin in Mykolaiv is in stable condition and is undergoing examination at the regional children's hospital.

This was reported to NikVesti by Iryna Tkachenko, head of the health department of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.

Earlier, it was reported that a newborn baby had been found in a rubbish bin. The incident occurred today, 26 January, at around 1:30 p.m. on Lazurna Street.

According to her, the baby was found by local residents, after which she was taken by ambulance to the regional children's hospital.

«She was found by residents. The baby was taken by ambulance to the regional children's hospital. Her condition is stable, and she is currently undergoing examination in the neonatal department,» said Iryna Tkachenko.

Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the circumstances under which the baby ended up in a rubbish bin. They are also trying to establish where the child was born.

«The place of birth is currently being determined. Most likely, law enforcement agencies will provide the answer,» added the official.

After the medical examinations are completed and the necessary documentation is processed, procedures will begin to find a home for the child.

«Next comes the procedure for placement or adoption, that is, taking her into care. This is a child who has found herself in difficult circumstances,» explained Iryna Tkachenko.

Currently, doctors are continuing to examine the baby, and the police are conducting an investigation to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

It should be noted that there are «Windows of Life» at five medical facilities in Mykolaiv. They are equipped with a special warm blanket and diaper, where you can discreetly place a child whose parents do not plan to keep it in the family but want to give it a chance for the future. A sensor is activated, medical staff hear an audible signal and immediately take the child for examination, testing and feeding.

As noted by Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, a woman who anonymously leaves her child here does not bear criminal responsibility for doing so. If the parents change their decision within two months and the baby has not yet been adopted, they will have a chance to get their child back.
