The route to Velyka Korenykha will not be launched until Mykolaiv has received all the Turkish buses

A bus route to the Velyka Korenykha neighbourhood in Mykolaiv will not be introduced until at least the city has taken delivery of all the Turkish buses it has purchased.

This was stated in a comment to NikVesti by Oleh Kuksa, Deputy Head of the Department of Transport, Communications and Telecommunications at Mykolaiv City Council.

According to him, at least four buses are needed for the route to operate properly, and there is no point in launching it with just one vehicle due to the long intervals between services.

«Tell me, please, will a single bus to Korenykha solve the problem? I’ll tell you, it won’t. There must be at least four buses. Work out for yourself what the interval would be with just one bus. If we receive the number of buses we have purchased and they are delivered to us by the end of the year, then we will launch the service. We have already given local residents this answer on numerous occasions. When they arrive, then we will launch the service. Once all 16 buses arrive, we’ll put them into service,» said Oleh Kuksa.

The city council notes that the issue of launching the route to Velyka Korenykha will be considered once Mykolaiv receives the full batch of buses purchased from the Turkish manufacturer.

It should be noted that the municipal enterprise «Mykolaivpastrans» recently put 10 new ISUZU buses, which Mykolaiv received last year, into service on city routes. At the same time, the city is set to start receiving a further 16 buses from this summer onwards — the vehicles will arrive in batches each month.

As is known, in August 2025, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, stated that the authorities planned to launch a new bus route to the Velyka Korenykha neighbourhood. At the time, the mayor also mentioned providing concessionary travel for residents.

However, the buses to the neighbourhood were not launched. In September 2025, the municipal enterprise «Mykolaivpastrans» stated that there was a need for the daily transport of schoolchildren, which the company handles under a contract with the education department.

In March 2026, residents of Velyka Korenykha approached the Mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych. They complained about transport issues, in particular the lack of free travel for those entitled to concessions.
