The municipal enterprise «Mykolaivpastrans» has put 10 new ISUZU buses, which Mykolaiv received last year, into service on city routes. At the same time, the city will begin receiving a further 16 buses from this summer onwards — the vehicles will arrive in batches each month.

This was announced by Dmytro Danilenko, director of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaivpastrans», during a staff meeting, according to NikVesti.

There are currently 34 municipal buses operating on the city’s routes. According to a company representative, the new ISUZU buses, which the city purchased with a €4.5 million loan as part of a partnership with the European Investment Bank, have been in service for around two weeks.

«There are currently 34 buses operating on the routes. Ten new ISUZU buses, which were delivered last year, have been on the routes for about two weeks now,» he said.

In total, Mykolaiv is set to receive 26 buses under the EBRD loan, with deliveries of the remaining buses due to begin this summer.

«Deliveries will start in the summer: we will receive four units every month. The company expects the remaining 16 buses in the autumn,» said Dmytro Danilenko.

Separately, Oleksandr Sienkevych asked whether the new buses had already been branded.

«Yes, they are already fully ready and fully branded,» replied the company representative.

After this, the mayor stated that he wanted to see all the city’s public transport in a uniform style.

«I would like to ask you to look into this matter. It is important to me: all public transport must be in a single colour. We need to find the resources for this, in particular by using special films that protect the paintwork. Please consider the possibility of periodically — once a month or once every two months, depending on the size of the bus — bringing the vehicles into line with the city’s standard public transport style. This is necessary for recognisability: so that people can see the bus from a distance, immediately understand that it is public transport, and react more quickly. This is not just about aesthetics, but also about convenience,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.

It should be recalled that Ukrainian people's deputy Dmytro Kysylevskyi stated that Mykolaiv City Council had «disgraced itself» by purchasing Turkish buses instead of supporting Ukrainian manufacturers.
