The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, explained that he is not calling US President-elect Donald Trump, because he is waiting for the first call from him.

The president of the Russian Federation said this during a speech at the «Valdai» discussion club, writes Ukrainian Pravda.

Vladimir Putin was asked what would happen if Trump called him and offered to meet.

«I don't think it's inappropriate on my part to call Trump, but I don't do it because the heads of Western countries used to call me almost every week, and then they suddenly stopped. Well, they don't want to, well, ok...,» said the president of the Russian Federation.

In addition, Putin noted that he is ready for discussions, in particular, with Trump.

«If one of them wants to resume contact, I always say: We have nothing against it. Please, we will restore contacts and hold discussions,» he says.

Election of the 47th President of the USA

Voting in the presidential elections ended on November 6 in the USA — the last polling stations were closed in Alaska. Even before the official results were announced, Donald Trump declared himself the winner of the election. The Republican received 240 votes, while Democrat Kamala Harris received 213.

During the speech in Florida, Trump already made a number of statements. In particular, he assured that he plans to stop all wars in the world.

A number of country leaders have already congratulated Trump on his victory: French President Emmanuel Macron, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. For the first time , they commented on the results of the US elections in China, expressing hope for further peaceful and mutually beneficial relations.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also congratulated US President Donald Trump on his victory in the elections. He noted that he hopes for the implementation of the «peace through strength» approach for a just end to the war in Ukraine.

At first, Russia was in no hurry to congratulate Trump on his victory. The press secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmytro Peskov, said that he did not know whether the leader of the new president would welcome them, because «the USA is an unfriendly country.»

Later, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, nevertheless congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the presidential elections, but did so unofficially, «through acquaintances.»

Vice President Kamala Harris called Donald Trump to congratulate him on his victory in the presidential election.
