Washington has proposed the option of sharing the currently occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, dividing it between Ukraine, the United States and Russia.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with journalists, according to «Interfax-Ukraine».

«The United States proposed a compromise, as they believe that the plant should somehow exist, work and be divided into three in some proportions. I told them, after discussing this for a long time, that I thought it was unfair. The issue is not only that it is our station. There are many different issues,» he said.

Earlier, the media reported that the so-called «peace plan» of 28 points provided for the «restart» of Zaporizhzhia NPP under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency. It is noted that the electricity produced was to be distributed equally between Ukraine and Russia.

At the same time, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi noted that if a peace agreement is reached, Zaporizhzhia NPP may need «a special status».

«Whichever side of the line ZNPP would be on, there should be an agreement on cooperation or an atmosphere of cooperation,» he said.

As a reminder, during the Russian attack on the night of 13 December, Zaporizhzhia NPP again operated on diesel generators for more than an hour.
