The authorities closed two schools in Snihurivka due to the absence of children and damage to the buildings

In Snihurivka, Mykolaiv region, two educational institutions were liquidated — comprehensive school №1 and district gymnasium No. 2 named after Taras Shevchenko.

Ivan Kukhta, the head of the Snihurivka city military administration, told about this in a conversation with NikVesti.

The closure is due to the lack of a sufficient number of students, as well as significant damage to the buildings due to hostilities. For example, Gymnasium №2 was hit during Easter night in 2023. School №1, which is the oldest in the city, does not have a shelter, and it is impractical to lay down funds for its construction.

«The first school, therefore the first, because it was built first, is an old school. There is no anti-radiation shelter. We planned to liquidate two schools even before the gymnasium was shelled. There are few children, less taxes are paid. After the end of the war, the community has to move forward little by little. Therefore, our task is to optimize educational processes and institutions as much as possible. It is impractical to restore them, because there is a large supporting 4th school, which really needs to be restored. In addition, it is necessary to take into account the educational reform,» said Ivan Kukhta.

School №3 and support school №4 will remain active institutions in the city.
