Mykolaiv will receive 9 more trolleybuses for grant funds — the city council has approved an additional agreement with the EBRD.

The decision was made at a session on 26 June, according to NikVesti.

According to Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, the money for these trolleybuses is provided by the Danish government through the EBRD co-financing mechanism, so the city will not take out loans or spend budget funds.

«We are getting 9 additional trolleybuses from the EBRD for Danish money — free of charge for Mykolaiv. This is a great support,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.

Earlier, it was planned that Mykolaiv would receive 40 new trolleybuses by May 2025 as part of the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Danish government.

As a reminder, the first trolleybuses with an autonomous range of up to 20 kilometres arrived in Mykolaiv in April 2024 as part of a project with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The mayor announced plans to purchase this new transport in December 2023.

In addition, in 2024, a grant agreement for €3.9 million was signed with Denmark, and 9 more trolleybuses will be purchased with these funds.
