The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Senkevych, has said that he plans to improve parking not only on the main streets but also in residential areas of the city.

He said this during a session of the city council on Thursday, 30 July, according to NikVesti.

The mayor said that the situation with parking remains problematic: drivers leave their cars on lawns, playgrounds and other unsuitable places. He stressed that once the city has regulated parking on the main streets, it will move on to the inner-city areas.

«Today we are dealing with the issue of central streets, and then we will deal with the issue of proper parking within residential areas and neighbourhoods, and we will put things in order there as well,» said the mayor.

As a reminder, Andrii Yantar, a member of Mykolaiv City Council, criticised the paid parking system in the city centre. He said that it not only does not add comfort to residents, but also creates additional problems.

The Mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, responded to the remarks made by Andrii Yantar regarding the introduction of paid parking in the city centre. He said that such a system is in place in many Ukrainian cities and is effective.

As you know, on 11 June, eight paid car parking locations were launched in the centre of Mykolaiv.

Earlier, NikVesti wrote about how they will work and who will control the payment.
