Zelenskyy announced the possibility of creating military command posts in the Kursk region

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting dedicated to the situation in the Kursk region. In a message on his Telegram channel, it is stated that the issues of security, humanitarian aid and the possibility of creating military command posts in case of need were discussed.

The head of state emphasized that Ukraine continues to protect border communities and «takes active actions on Russian territory» in strict compliance with international conventions.

«Our forces strictly comply with the requirements of international conventions and international humanitarian law,» said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

What is happening in the Kursk region

The Russian side claims that on August 6, the Ukrainian military allegedly tried to break through the border and gain a foothold in the Sudzhanskyi and Korenievskyi districts of the Kursk region.

According to information from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, approximately 300 Ukrainian soldiers on 11 tanks and 20 armored vehicles allegedly attempted to break through.

According to local media reports, six Russian servicemen were captured by the Armed Forces, and the Russian Telegram channel «VChK-OGPU» claims that the Chechen special forces «Akhmat» stationed on the border have left their positions, and 15 soldiers were injured.

At the same time, Russian soldiers reported that on August 7, Ukrainian forces occupied several settlements in the Kursk region, and the city of Sudzha was actually evacuated. At the same time, the UN Secretary General did not have any information about the events in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation: «We do not have representatives in this area.»
