Ukrainian track and field athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh took first place in the high jump final at the 2024 Olympic Games. She brought Ukraine the fifth medal at this year's Games.

Australia's Nicola Olislagers finished second with a height of 2.00 meters, which she cleared on her second attempt. The Ukrainian athlete Iryna Herashchenko shared the bronze with the Australian Eleanor Patterson — they both took a height of 1.95 meters and failed to conquer the bar of 1.98 meters in three attempts.

Before that, Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh won the silver of the World Championship in the Scottish city of Glasgow, which was held on March 1, 2024. She also set a new world record in the women's high jump this year, clearing a height of 2.10 meters.

And in 2022, Yaroslava Mahuchikh became the world indoor high jump champion.

The expert commission of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine recognized Yaroslava Mahuchikh as the best athlete of 2023.

Mykolaiv athletes in the 2024 Olympics

Since the start of the Olympics, a number of Mykolaiv athletes have already managed to take part in the competition. 18-year-old Mykolaiv athlete Oleksii Sereda took fifth place in the finals of the synchronized jumping competition from the 10-meter platform.

And Mykolaiv diver Kseniia Bailo in a duet with athlete Sofia Liskun took seventh place at the Olympic Games in Paris in synchronized jumping from a 10-meter springboard. And Mykolaiv divers Danylo Konovalov and Oleh Kolodii took part in synchronized diving from a 3-meter springboard and took seventh place.

Women's saber competitions were also held at the Olympic Games. Mykolaiv fencer Olha Kharlan won the decisive battle for bronze. At the same time, Olha Kharlan played a key role on the way to «gold» in the team tournament.

In this way, Olha Kharlan became a six-time Olympic medalist, having won the «gold» of the team saber fencing tournament at the 2024 Games.
