On August 6, at the Olympic Games in Paris, the quarterfinals of the 500-meter rowing competition were held. The Ukrainian national team, which includes Mykolaiv athlete Oleh Kukharyk, made it to the semifinals.

The competition was broadcast live on «Suspilne.Sport», writes NikVesti.

The Ukrainian team finished fifth, ahead of the Lithuanian and Chinese teams with a time of 1:21.09.

In addition to the athlete from Mykolaiv, Ukraine was represented by Ihor Trunov, Dmytro Danylenko and Ivana Semykin as part of the four-person rowing team.

The semi-finals will be held on August 8 at 12:50 p.m.

It is worth noting that for the first time in 28 years, Ukraine took part in the race in the men's kayak four at the Olympic Games.

Mykolaiv athletes in the 2024 Olympics

Since the start of the Olympics, a number of Mykolaiv athletes have already managed to take part in the competition. 18-year-old Mykolaiv athlete Oleksii Sereda took fifth place in the finals of the synchronized jumping competition from the 10-meter platform.

And Mykolaiv diver Kseniia Bailo in a duet with athlete Sofiia Liskun took seventh place at the Olympic Games in Paris in synchronized jumping from a 10-meter springboard. And Mykolaiv divers Danylo Konovalov and Oleh Kolodii took part in synchronized diving from a 3-meter springboard and took seventh place.

Women's saber competitions were also held at the Olympic Games. Mykolaiv fencer Olha Kharlan won the decisive battle for bronze. At the same time, Olha Kharlan played a key role on the way to gold in the team tournament.

In this way, Olga Harlan became a six-time Olympic medalist, winning the gold of the team saber fencing tournament at the 2024 Games.
