The law enforcement officers continue to investigate the disappearance of City Hall property worth ₴3.5 million

None of the employees of the Mykolaiv City Council is involved in the theft of the city hall's property. This was reported by the Mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, during a press conference on Thursday, January 4, NikVesti reports.

According to the mayor, since February 26, 2022, none of the employees have been in the building of the city council. During the investigation conducted by law enforcement agencies, Oleksandr Sienkevych did not receive any information that would confirm the involvement of his subordinates in the disappearance of City Hall property.

«I can't tell you anything because the investigation is confidential. If the police are involved in this, the investigation will report based on the results what it was, how it happened, how many hours, how many times. You will know everything after the issue is resolved. I can say that city council employees have not been in the building since February 26. To date, I have no information from law enforcement agencies regarding the involvement of city council employees in the disappearance of the equipment. No information, questioning or anything else,» Oleksandr Sienkevych said.

At the same time, the mayor emphasized that no one will be able to hide the details from the investigation, and the guilty will be punished.

«It's not just that, the wallet is missing. This is very serious. No one will be able to stop something. All Mykolaiv residents will learn about the results of the work carried out by law enforcement agencies, what happened in the city council during this time,» he added.

We will remind you that since the beginning of the full-scale war, the specialized equipment of the Energy Efficiency Center disappeared from Mykolayiv City Hall, in particular, thermal imagers and gas analyzers, necessary for conducting an energy audit, as well as personal office equipment of employees. The special equipment was on the balance sheet of the utility company «Institute of Socio-Economic Development of the City».

At the beginning of February 2023, after an inventory , a shortage of equipment worth 2.8 million hryvnias was discovered, including personal computers of officials, which contained data on accrued wages. With this, the city council then argued for the refusal to provide information about the salaries and bonuses of the mayor, his deputies and assistants to the journalists of the Center for Journalistic Investigations.

In May, «Nikcentr» through the court was able to receive from the city council of Mykolaiv answers to the request regarding the salaries, bonuses and other additional payments received by the mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, his deputies and assistants in 2022.

In August 2023, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, said that more than 3.5 million hryvnias worth of property had been stolen from the city hall building. Personal items from the mayor's office were among the stolen equipment.

What was stolen from Mykolaiv City Council?

In May 2023, the Mykolaiv City Hall published a list of 647 missing items to the Executive Committee worth 2.8 million hryvnias, during the period when the City Hall building was idle due to a full-scale invasion.

The list of missing equipment includes: refrigerators, sewing machine, gas plant, welding machine, several ladders, air conditioners, speaker systems, fax, diskette box, tape recorder, printers, video and photo cameras, voice recorders, televisions, coolers, modems, telephones, projectors, system units, monitors, personal computers, fans, switch, router, software and technical complex — wired electronic voting system, Wi-Fi kits, laptops, electric heaters, laminator, splitters, KREDO automated workplaces, typewriters, staplers, a set of tools, a grinder, an electric drill, a paper shredder, provisions for ensuring confidentiality, a drill, a screwdriver, a jigsaw, fire extinguishers, external hard drives, headphones, data storage media, electric kettles, video recorders, Lenovo tablets, uninterruptible power supplies.

From household items, except for blinds and ashtrays: tables, bookcases and wardrobes, chairs and armchairs, paintings, tulle compositions, table lamps, bedside tables, 160 New Year's electric garlands, floor scales, a dispenser and a stand for it, hangers-racks for clothes, calculators, flag stand, conical fire bucket, canvas fire hose, crowbar, fire shovel, fire ax, blinds, gas masks, office chairs, bean bag chairs, detailed map of Mykolaiv, 1,000 protective badge covers for plastic ID cards.
