Over the past year, the Mykolaiv Regional Employment Centre has employed 5,400 residents of the region.

This was announced by the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Vitalii Kim during a press conference on 30 December, NikVesti reports.

However, according to Vitalii Kim, the number of employed people should be 10 times higher in order to integrate all those returning from the frontline.

«One of the main challenges in the employment sector, to which we are now actively preparing, is the return of our military men and women from the frontline and ensuring their employment. The Employment Centre has already officially employed 5,400 people, but I believe this figure should be ten times higher. Negotiations, training and retraining of personnel with the participation of international partners is one of the key tasks we will have to face in the future», said Vitalii Kim.

He also added that the employment of veterans «is a problematic issue that will be on everyone's mind».

«We have already signed several cooperation documents that will allow us to organise retraining and employment of people. But this issue will become relevant next year, which will be a problematic issue for everyone, I think, «on everyone's mind». I am glad that everyone will return, but at the same time, it is a big challenge, because we need to provide everyone with a job», added the head of the RMA.

Support for veterans

In 2024, Mykolaiv region received over 176 million hryvnias from the state budget to purchase housing for veterans. This project is part of  the«Hero Policy» strategy initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

It should also be noted that Ukraine has launched the «Single Veteran Line», which will provide support to the military and their families. By calling 0 800 505 217, experts provide advice on urgent issues to veterans, their families and the families of fallen soldiers. «The Single Veterans Line» is open daily from 08:00 to 20:00.

In addition, in Mykolaiv, a Veteran Hub was created on the basis of the Centre for Administrative Services, which provides services to people who participated in hostilities.
