The traditional bathing on Epiphany in Odesa. Photo: NikVestiToday, 6 January, traditional bathing on the occasion of the Epiphany holiday took place in Odesa. Two official zones were set up for the participants — at Lanzheron Beach and the 16th station of the Big Fountain.
A correspondent of NikVesti visited the site.
The blessing of the water at the Big Fountain began at 09:00, and at Lanzheron — at 10:00.

In particular, since 2023, the city authorities have refused to organise traditional bathing in the water during martial law on church holidays. In 2023, religious communities did not apply to the city authorities to hold mass public events, including a religious procession on the occasion of the Epiphany. However, those who attended the OCU service, instead of diving into the ice hole, bathed in barrels at the entrance to the church.
